Silverweed (Argentina anserina syn. Potentilla anserina) (20/06/2022) Footpath between Tottington Wood and Sands Farm, Sands Lane, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex. These are really small specimens. Nevertheless, the rose-like flower combined with these very particular leaves make it a Silverweed.

And this is why it is Silverweed and not the very similar flowers of Cinquefoils and Tormentils - these leaves being very different from both the latter. The leaves are covered in fine hairs, making them look silver from a distance, hence the common name.

These leaves are much larger, perhaps simply because they are not trodden on by people's feet!
